Dear all,
I think it is the time to try to finalize our efforts toward a good (and hopefully also stable) particle identification software.

At present, some algorithms based on Bayesian approach are implemented -> STT, DIRC, DISC, MVD (needs an update), some hard cuts for MDT, there is an infrastructure for MVA identification for electrons. The design and the integration with analysis is not yet fixed.

For this reasons, I would like to try to collect all the people interested in working on this subject, trying to share tasks to reach results in a short (hopefully time).

An indicative list of possible work packages could be:

  • Tracking validation for all the particle types
  • Study of correlation between tracks and PID detectors
  • PID for TPC
  • Pid algorithm for EMC using Bayesian approach (R.Kunne)
  • Pid algorythm for EMC using MVA (M.Babai)
  • Photon/pi0 separation using EMC
  • Muon ID with MDT
  • Check of efficiency/purity for the implemented algorithms
  • Interface with analysis

I have also added the names of people who have already started to working on the subject. But each point needs even more than one person to fulfill our goals.

I would like to ask who is interested in this subject and would like to give an help. We could organize in early January (next week probably will be too close) an evo meeting to present the status and start some coordination.

Volunteers are welcome!!!
