Dear Christian,

The GEM detector is to be a strip detector. Each of the 4 stations will be implemented with 2 sensitive planes, but remember, that each sensible plane sports two layers of strips. Thus there are 4 different views per station (see my slides from the last collaboration meeting, or the slides from last pandaroot EVO meeting). Because of the geometrical proximity of front (back) layers in one station it is possible to reconstruct 2 space points per station, separated by about 3 cm in "z".

Due to the above reasons I have decided to implement these space points for the fitter, and not the strips.

As a first attempt it is correct I think, especially that the PndGemIdealHitProducer produces space points out of the MC points, smeared with the resolution "expected" from the strip-to-hit finder.

Do you think it would be more correct to focus on the strip recoHit?

yours,
radek
