There's a school in Karlsruhe covering modern computing infrastructures and techniques. I think that could be interesting for some of you? There seem to be still some open places.
(I'm talking there about GPUs.)

Some information from the organizer follows.

See you there, maybe?!

Dear colleagues,

we would like to inform you that it is still possible to register for the 14th International GridKa School 2016 „Data Science on Modern Architectures", however the registration is closing soon on August, 22th 2016.

The GridKa School will take place from August, 29th to September, 2nd 2016 at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany.

This year's school will again impart knowledge using a mixture of plenary talks and hands-on courses focussing on interesting and state-of-the-art topics in cloud computing, modern programming, data processing and data analytics.

For example:
Go, Scientific Python, Jupyter Notebooks, Concurrent Programming, GPUs, Profiling and Debugging, Modern & Idiomatic C++14/17, Puppet, OpenStack, Docker, Scientific Computing on Amazon Web Services, (No)SQL, CEPH, R, Apache Spark/Hadoop, etc.

Please visit our web site for more details and for the agenda and registration.

In case you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us at

Best regards and looking forward to welcome you at GridKa School 2016,
Manuel Giffels, for the GridKa School team
