For all the brave peope willing to setup a PandaRoot environment with new git installation, I prepared a wiki page with all the instructions:

Currently, it is meant ONLY for code developing, and not to run analysys. Once more tests will be done, we will move directly to it in the next weeks and modify pandaroot to remove the links to the base packages.
If you find problems, please report.
Currently the installation was tested by me on:
Ubuntu 12.04
Ubuntu 14.04
Ubuntu 14.10
Os X 9 (Maverick)
Beware that it has problems with Yosemite.
The wiki suggested version was updated accordingly.
