I was also thinking about using the MC point distance to (0,0,0) as the ordering parameter for STT. This is the way I did it for the DCH.

Thank you also for changing the "3" to kSTT in the PndStt.cxx. This is however not the only place when one would have to change it. The other is the creation of PndSttHits or adding hits into PndTrackCand created by your track finder. There, as far as I can see, you are using the DetectorId, which is the kSTT set in PndStt.cxx. This in fact should be changed to kSttHit. Why? Because kSTT from DetectorId is accidentally the same integer as kMVDHitsStrip from fDetectorType.
