StefanoSpataro wrote on Fri, 07 November 2014 09:18Dear Susan, so far I have received 2 requests, and I think they are enough for a meeting. But we could decide to dedicate the next (25th November) to EMC software. Please let me know the availability of the Emc people for such a date.
good idea. i see what i can muster till then.
Su.

schadmand wrote on Fri, 07 November 2014 09:00could we have a dedicated sub-session on EMC software.
then i would alert certain people as i promised.
it would be great if that could take place in the first half of the computing session which, so far, does not overlap with other sessions.
Hi Susan & Stefano,
are you talking both about the regular Pandaroot SeeVogh or the Computing Session in Jülich in December?
Cheers
Ralf

Hello Stefano and Maksym,
in the minutes of the last meeting I saw that an update of another Kalman Filter package is provided. I also read that it exists in a development branch, now. Please, could you say to me where can I acces that code? I am interested in taking a look, for a comparison with genfit2. It would be interesting if that code and genfit2 can run in the same trunk/release revision, so it can be possible to do the proper comparison of the algorithm performance.
Thank you for the information, Elisabetta

Hi Stefano and Ralf,
thank you to answer to my second question. My first question was: where I can have access to that code, as it is said that it is in "development branch"? If there is a link that I can access, I would be interested to take a look.
Maybe here I misunderstood something, but are you planning to use different kalman algorithms in pandaroot? or are you planning to try different algorithms, then to choose one?
Thank you for your attention, Elisabetta

To question 1), the answer is https://subversion.gsi.de/trac/fairroot/browser/pandaroot/development/mz yzak
To question 2), actually we have only one Kalman Filter package in the repository, which is genfit, also a bit obsolete and with problems. If we find a new and better Kalman, it will be good. Currently, the only studies for a new Kalman Filter are the yours with genfit2.

Dear Elisabetta,
indeed, the KF Particle package which I presented last week is intended to be used for reconstruction of short lived particles out of the tracks. It can not be used to fit the tracks. Since I worked in PANDA Root, in my current analysis I used genfit to fit the tracks. Our group currently works to put into the repository the CA track finder together with the KF fitter, which we are developing.
With best regards,
Maksym
