Hi,

just a small note on a problem that might occur, when installing the newest external packages. For the external packages to build (more precisely the geant4 installation) the expat development packages are required. In case your external package building fails at geant4, it is most likely due to this reason. (Search for expat within your package manager. Should be something like expat.XXX-devel.)

I have the same problem (i.e. the geant4 installation fails, with complaints about expat), but I have expat packages installed:
expat-2.0.1-11.el6_2.x86_64
compat-expat1-1.95.8-8.el6.x86_64
expat-2.0.1-11.el6_2.i686
(my OS is slc6). Do I need something else in addition to these?

Hi Karin,

it looks like you only have the runtime packages installed. Try to install the expat-devel package.
