Dear Developers,

I think that root source files are missing in the fairsoft_jan10 package.
Could you check tar file??
http://fairroot.gsi.de/download/jan10/fairsoft_jan10.tar.gz

Best wishes,
Donghee

Hello Donghee,

Do you have all the read/write permissions in the shell where you try to install fairsoft? "Permission denied" hints to that.
Did you try to run the faisoft installation mcro just again? On my former Suse Linux this helped with some inexplainable errors (maybe mem was full..).

Regards,
Ralf.

Dear Ralf,

Please make a check with unpacking fairsoft_jan10.tar.gz.
There is simply no fairsoft/tools/root directory.
"Permission" of shells does not relate fail of installation.

Best wishes,
Donghee

Well,

I checked and actually the root source is missing in the tarball. This might have happened due to setting the fairsoft svn to the external root repository for that folder.
So the tarballs scripts/install_root.sh and the root tarball have to be fixed.

For a faster fix I suggest you, Donghee, to download fairsoft via svn (as described on the fairsoft website).

Greetings,
Ralf.

What do you mean? Did you try ...

svn co https://subversion.gsi.de/fairroot/fairsoft/release/jan10 ?

Or do you have another problem? If so, could you tell which problem?

I asked Mohammad and Florian to fix the tarball on the website as well...
UPDATE 05/03/2010, 19:51.... tarball has been updated by Mohammad.

Johan

hello sir,

I tried no. of times for command
svn co https://subversion.gsi.de/fairroot/fairsoft/release/jan10
but it gives error
svn: OPTIONS of 'https://subversion.gsi.de/fairroot/fairsoft/release/jan10': could not connect to server (https://subversion.gsi.de)
though I already installed svn subversion in my ubuntu 9.10 system.
so I installed the external packages using tar file, but now while installing pandaroot i use svn command, svn co https://subversion.gsi.de/fairroot/pandaroot/stable but it is showing same error.
