Dear friends of Pandaroot

I have just arrived to one point
at which one starts to be nervious.

I have realized that by running with
the same generator, same detector but with diffrent
running mode(genat3 or geant4)
there is a big big diffrence.

So lets start to see,
what the hell means all the cuts setups at gconfig/G3config.C setCuts.C

for example, some at the mar08 release the cut on time tof was 1
now if you go to the svn repository trunk is 1E10 (what ??) seconds.

Has this change implications on the simulation???

I will appreciate if some of you can reply to this .

thanks in advance

A. S.

Hi Alicia,
months ago I was working on cuts (SetCuts.C and Geane.C) ... so I think it was me that changed TOFMAX value.

I put TOFMAX = 1E10 seconds because it's the value suggested by the Geant User Guide. I quote:

TOFMAX time of flight cut in seconds -> 10^10
and
TOFMAX threshold on time of flight counted from primary interaction time (10^10)

Pay attention that both Geant3 and Geant4 use the same cuts set in SetCuts.C. So the setting of TOFMAX to 1E10 s cannot be the reason of the big difference you see when you simulate using either Geant3 or Geant4.

I hope this can help you.
Ciao,
Susanna

This is not completely true.
If in your g4Config.C you don't set "specialCuts" (by default), you will have no cuts with G4, so you cannot compare directly.
