Hi!

One of our recotasks crashed because GEANT had produced a pdg code which could not be found in TDatabasePDG:

root [0] TDatabasePDG::Instance()->GetParticle(321)
(const class TParticlePDG*)0x852dbd8
root [1] TDatabasePDG::Instance()->GetParticle(1000010020)
(const class TParticlePDG*)0x0
root [2]

Any idea?
Sebastian.

The 1000010020 should be the deuteron.
Maybe there are no ions in the base TDatabasePDG.

Hi!

Yes we found the deuteron code in the PDG lists.

But my question would be: why are the GEANT particle lists not synchronized with TDatabasePDG? Is this not a dangerous situation?

Sebastian.

Hi,

I had similar problems with the PDG database, I asked the ROOT and VMC people to correct this but they did not! Any way the problems are:

1. In the simulation session these particles are added to the database but they are not persistence!

2. Geant4 and Geant3 have different codes for ions!!

So we have to solve this problem our selves!
