Dear all, I would like to propose Andy Warhol's painting for endangoured species as the logo. Note that the tilted angle is not a "crop accident" with ImageMagick but (I think) it was intention by Warhol. (but I think it might be copyright protected and I am not sure if one is allowed to use it). cheers, - Soeren

Note: the photograph was taken from a www page of the Zoo Oregon and it seems not copyright protected.

P.S. I even tried to generate it only based upon the characters "p" and "P" but then the contrast is in a way that the shape is not recognizable anymore.

Hi Soeren, I really like this picture, it seems interesting, for example, as background for presentations or for the web site.
But I think a logo should be quite small, to put it in the header of a talk or in the plots...
Don't you?

In course of time, a lot of proposals were made for a PandaROOT logo.
Thanks for all the creativity!!!

I summarized the proposed logos in this message. I gave each logo a name, below you can find its corresponding picture. Note that not all the variations are shown.

So, what about a poll....!?!?

Dear Johan,

I really enjoyed the different suggestions for the new PandaRoot logo. Some of them are really cute.

But there actually my problem starts. I think that none of these logos is appropriate as a logo for PandaRoot.

In my point of view the logo should fulfill the following points:

1. Related to the Panda-Experiment logo
2. Look professional
3. Look good in color and gray scale
4. Not to big
5. Some link to root would be nice (but is not necessary)

None of the logos matches all the points. (My apology to the designers)

So I would like to ask you to extend the poll list by a new point "none of the suggested logos" (or something like that).

Hi Tobias,

I see your point. Hence, I added a box "none of the above" to be fair....

Note that if we decide to select one of the present designs, we will still optimize the quality, color scheme, and provide different sizes etc. So, that in perspectives, I would consider the proposed logos as a conceptual design.
