Hello Christo et al,

What was the reason once again for the absence of xv? I just have downloaded the sources and with a couple of (well documented) changes I was able to compile and link it. It runs beautifully, the awkward ugly fancy overloaded slow programs like kview or gimp have no chance in comparison to the fast slim efficient cool xv... Find it in /misc/misko/bin/xv

Dariusz

The main reason for dropping xv is neither that it's old nor that it does not compile on Sarge - even though both applies.

The main reason is its license (See http://www.trilon.com/xv/pricing.html):
Quote:

If you use xv in the course of doing your work, whatever your 'work' may happen to be, you must register your copy of xv.

If there's enough interest, GSI could buy a site license - given there's enough money in the 2007 IT departments budget. Rolling Eyes

Personally I rather fancy gqview. Razz

Regards,
Christopher
