I want to start here a collection of new processor architectures.
E.g. the new emerging system-on-a-chip CPUs may have better GFlops/EUR or GFlops/Watt than PCs, that makes them probable candidates for processing nodes in the future DAQ and trigger processing.

Since quite some time IBM, Sony, and Toshiba develop the "Cell" processor. The device is to power Playstation 3 and other home entertainment devices.
