| Problem in installation of fairsoft on ubuntu 14.10 [message #18109] |

Dear PandaRooters,
I have tried to install the external packages on my ubuntu 14.10 64 bit machine. When I am running ./configure command in fairsoft_mar15 directory it comes with the following error message.
*** Package gtest is OK ***
*** Downloading gsl sources ***
% Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current
Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed
0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 --:--:-- --:--:-- --:--:-- 0curl: (7) Failed to connect to ftp.gnu.org port 21: Connection refused
*** Unpacking gsl-1.16.tar.gz ..............
--E-- Cannot unpack package gsl
I have checked fairsoft_mar15/basics/ directory too as found some solution in prevoius one forum post. that could not solve my problem.
What should I do now?

Hello Florian,
I have not applying any proxy on my network for the installation period. I have downloaded gsl-1.16.tar.gz file and unpack it in basics directory. then previous problem is gone. now again pythia6 related problem appeared. I did same as did for the gsl and put it generators directory but failed to unpack it there. please find attached log file and suggest me what should I do now ?

Can you tell me from where we can download all the source file(as pythia6.tar.gz etc.etc) which is required for the configuration?

Dear Florian,
Previous problems have been removed.
Now I have following error while doing make install
[100%] Built target splitter
Install the project...
-- Install configuration: "RelWithDebInfo"
CMake Error at cmake_install.cmake:36 (FILE):
file cannot create directory: /usr/local/share/fairbase/example. Maybe
need administrative privileges.
Makefile:62: recipe for target 'install' failed
make: *** [install] Error 1
ajay@ajay:~/fairsoft_mar15/FairRoot/build$
What should I do now ?

Hi Florian,
Actually, I was not able to download from ftp server so pythia6.tar.gz took from my old apr13 external packages directory and geant321+_vmc.1.15a.tar.gz taken from CERN site. After that everything worked for me.
I have given proper path now and current error has been gone.
My PandaRoot also working fine now.
