Dear members of the PANDA collaboration,

I attached a draft for the proceedings of a poster on pattern recognition for the PANDA FTS which I presented at a conference in January 2013 in Bormio, Italy. I have to hand in the paper next Monday, April 15th at 18:00.

I would appreciate if you had any comments or suggestions concerning the draft and if you could send them to me before next Monday 12:00.

I will update this topic regularly with the current version and will try to include as many of your suggestions as possible.

[old version was removed, please download the most recent one from a post below]

Kind regards,
Martin

PS: These are the changes I am planning to do:

Changelist for V2
1. Picture of PANDA detector:
I plan to make the labels bigger and label only the magnets and the FTS
2. All other pictures:
I will reduce the caption text and include it in the main paper
3. I will add Hough space pictures for the line and the parabola.

Dear Martin,

I took a look to the proceeding, and my first comment is on the paragraph 2: you wrote that the wires are inclined of 10 degrees, but as far as I know the inclination is 5 degrees.

I will take a look also at the rest of the paper, and I will send you my comments if I have.

Elisa

Changelog V6:

Thank you Elisa, I corrected the angle.
I also made several important corrections based on suggestions from professor Smyrski.
Additionally, I moved the long text in the captions to the main text and made some additional minor text adjustments.
I added a reference for the "time based simulation".

Comments:

Version 6 is fairly complete
I plan to add two pictures of the Hough spaces for line and for parabola.
I might add a short paragraph on the Hough transform for a line.
Everything else should be "final" unless I receive corrections, suggestions or change requests.

Changelog V7:

Added pictures for the line and the parabola Hough spaces
Added text at the end of section 5 to explain the two new plots
Changed bibliographystyle

Comments:
Now the draft should be complete except for an explanation for the line Hough transform which I might still add.

After changing the text in several places to make it more easy to understand, adding a few more references and labeling the angle theta in figure 2 I have just submitted the version which is attached to this post.

I would like to thank everybody again who helped me with suggestions and corrections.
