Developments
============
1. Status of transfer of December data (Kilian)
So far no data has been transferred to GSI. This issue should be considered as high priority from all sites. Kilian will try to disentangle the necessary steps to get it working directly with Pablo next week.
Marians students need these data to finish their diploma work until march. It has been discussed to transfer roughly two terabyte of data manually if the automated mechanism won't be repaired soon.
Central reconstruction has been stopped due to high failure rates. Work is underway to correct this behavior. Marian pointed out that this is time-critical and he works on a "private" reconstruction at CERN.
- grid1/grid2 database problem solved?
After updating the machines to the latest AliEn version and adjusting the configuration the storage should work again.
2. Report on xrootd developments with Fabrizio (Kilian)
Installation and configuration has been done by Kilian in close collaboration with Fabrizio. He would probably come to GSI for fine-tuning of the system and to give a talk between 11th to 13th of february.
3. xrootd interface (Anna)
The underlying software necessary for the development is working after detailed investigation. Anna hopes to get the interface working until the visit of Fabrizio.
4. Speed tests (Misha)
Preliminary results have been posted to the forum. Result: A performance improvement of a factor of two by pre-staging small files to memory before analyzing. Further investigation will be done.
Users' support

0. Maintance of Alice software - AliEn, Root, AliRoot
Latest versions of the ALICE software stack have been deployed on all platforms. Detailed documentation will be published in the computing section of the ALICE Wiki by Kilian.

Silvia asked for a second contact person for software maintenance to gain a faster reaction on updates.
1. GRID analysis jobs (Ana, Kilian)
Kilian created two working examples which he will make public at the ALICE Wiki.
2. Organization of the information to go on the wiki page (Jacek)
e.g. recipe for user request of data mirroring
Jacek gave short overview of the Wiki. Everybody is welcome to register and to contribute. The general structure of documenting in the Wiki will be discussed on demand in future meetings.
