Dear all,

(PandaRoot friends, programmers, supporters)

if it is acceptable for everyone, we will not have another PandaRoot meeting before christmas.

On the one hand, the collaboration meeting just finished
(so we have a fine overview of the status).

On the other hand, we will have the combined CBM/Panda software EVO meeting (organized by Johan and Volker Friese) this week on Thursday, 20.12., 10:00.

Thus: the next PandaRoot meeting is envisaged for the new year, Wednesday, 16.01.2008.

Just a short remark.
I think we can all agree that this was a great year for PandaRoot. Not only that all detectors are in (at least in a preliminary version), we also had the first preliminary physics analyses using reco of neutral clusters and charged tracks. Not to mention the enormous progress and support from GSI side (Mohammad, Denis and Florian) on all the tools (dashboard, rule checker etc.). Surely, we all know that a lot of knowledge and many base classes we "inherited" (partially in the literal sense) from CBM, and we all know about the things to be done, but the things accomplished this year are quite significant. So really: thanks to everyone involved and everyone spending so much time on debugging even the tiny things (or even spending time on not-so-interesting work such as renaming classes ...)

P.S. just to let everyone know, the non-compiling EvtGen is recognized as an important (maybe the most important) short-term question and difficulty (otherwise e.g. charmonium hybrid simulations might not be available soon). A preliminary solution is to generate EvtGen generator output files for some important charmonium channels (h_c etc.) with root 5.14 which probably we will do (to some extend) over christmas (as machines usually do not celebrate christmas - yet, but maybe in 100 years from now - , but I use the term "probably" here because human beings usually block all access ports to the machines - at least at the Giessen computing center - over christmas ...).

Have a nice christmas everyone and see you next year
(but before probably on the combined Panda/CBM meeting!)

Soeren (and Johan), for everyone.
