Hi,
Hereby, a few comments that were mentioned during the meeting this morning.
EvtGen wishes for PANDA
--------------------
* Panda would encourage to have EvtGen as an external package, e.g. its maintenance external as VMC, G4, etc .
* EvtGen source available centrally via f.e. subversion, with various branches.
* EvtGen compatible with large range of distributions and compilers
* No dependencies on non-maintained code, such as cernlib (as was shown possible by Bjoern already)
* Code cleaning: getting rid of many compilation warnings
* Easy implementation of users own physics implementation (which is already a feature of existing EvtGen)
* Interfacing to compact and "user-friendly" formats, such as Root (provides f.e. TParticle browsing etc)
* Interfacing to user-preferred random number generators, f.e. for PANDA that would be TRandomX.
* Support for initial higher spin states (beyond virtual 1-- photons) , as possible in p-pbar
What can PANDA deliver?
-------------------
* Testing community for EvtGen developments, e.g. find bugs, suggest features, etc.... Since PANDA is in its development stage, we are a perfect Guinea pig!
* Implementation of physics code for typical PANDA reactions from our user community/interest
* As it looks right now, for the upcoming years, PANDA will hardly have the human resources to contribute to the core developments for EvtGen
Did I miss anything?
Greets,
Johan.
